On September 1, 2013 enthusiasts and avid runners will take on the road once again to tackle the imposing route starting at Sir Leo Hielscher Bridge – South, going inside the city of Brisbane navigating through the suburbs of Hamilton and Bowen Hills ending at RNA showgrounds. The run has been a tradition for many years in the area participated by thousands of runners and enthusiasts.

Originally called ‘Bridge to Bay’, the first few races covered Gateway Bridge towards the coast line and ending at Manly. Organizers later moved it to New Farm Park but with growing traffic problems, the finish was eventually moved to Ekka showgrounds. Just last year, the organization managed to collect more than $800,000 for the Kids Helpline. But this year, runners will be given the opportunity to select their own charity to support.

This year’s run also offers another first- runners will be given two ‘times’- the first time is the raw time and the second is the ‘Hero’ time. This new customized time will give the runner one second off the race time for every $1 raised for the selected charity.

How to Register and Have Fun

Interested runners can register for the 10km walk/run for $40, and organizers charge $35 for the 5km run/walk. Children in strollers can join the fun for free.
